Interactive demos vs. AI demo agents: which converts?
Interactive demos and AI demo agents look adjacent on a landing page. They are not the same product. Interactive demos are recorded click-through tours. AI demo agents are live conversations that drive the real product. The trade-offs matter more than the category label.
The category split
Interactive demos (Storylane, Navattic, Arcade, Walnut) capture a SaaS product UI and let a designer annotate a tour. The tour is built once and reused. The prospect drives the timeline but the tour itself does not adapt to what they ask.
AI demo agents (Floe, Tribble) run a live agent on the real product UI. The conversation adapts to the buyer, the discovery runs every time, and the walkthrough is generated for that prospect.
Where interactive demos win
On a landing page top, an interactive demo lets a scanning visitor scrub through the product without committing to a conversation. If you sell to a buyer who only wants to look around, interactive demos are the right surface.
Where AI demo agents win
Once a prospect has a question, an interactive demo stops working. A recorded tour cannot answer "How does this handle SSO with our IdP?" An AI demo agent can. It can also score the account against your ICP while the demo runs, brief your AE, and book the meeting. The interactive demo cannot.
When to use both
Most teams that win on inbound use both. Interactive demo at the top of the page for the scan. Live agent on the call-to-action below it for the conversion. The two complement each other.
How the math compares
Median demo form conversion sits at 1.5%. Teams that put a live AI demo on the call-to-action report up to 34% conversion against the same paid traffic. The agent does not replace the SE — it removes the gate the SE was bottlenecked on.
